Important Information for Local Concerned Tax Payers

Thank you for sticking with the Fort Walton Beach Tea Party.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but our communications have become a major obstacle in reaching so many people ready to make a difference.

As part of our growth, we have developed a rather large email list that has caused some problems with some Internet Service Providers, most notably Embarq, Bellsouth, and Mediacom.  These ISPs are blocking emails for folks that have requested to stay in touch.  We are trying to resolve the problem, but have been unable to make much progress.

Because it is critical we are all able to stay in touch, we are diversifying our communications system.  This email is going out as part of a widespread recall campaign to reach all people who have been a part of this movement over the last 6 months.  I thank the Communications Team for helping me get this email out to everyone.

Join a group and be a part of the Action, because it’s easier to communicate in smaller groups.  We need everyone to find a way to strengthen the whole group to empower all local citizens to create a lasting change to a Citizen-based political movement rather than always just depending on a permanent political ruling class.

New Communications Strategy

We are having some difficulty with our email list so we are going to try a new strategy where I post blog entries and that entry will automatically go out to the Followers on the list.

With the recent challenges we have been facing, it reinforces the need to continually analyze and develop key communications strategies.

Superintendent Alexis Tibbetts' Response

Chris;

I have spoken to the media and e-mailed principals regarding President Obama’s speech.  Our teachers have the academic freedom to show this broadcast to their students if they choose and if it is included in their instructional standards and benchmarks.  Parents have the right to have their children assigned an alternate activity if their child’s teacher is participating and the parent does not want their child in class.  Parents have the right to visit classrooms at any time in our district as long as they provide prior notice to the teachers.  That is part of the contract.   Schools and teachers have the link to sample lesson plans for this presentation.  Based on this information, the presentation includes setting attainable academic goals, taking personal responsibility for your future, graduating from high school with career and college ready skills and taking challenging and rigorous coursework in school.  
 

Again, parents who are concerned about this message may send a note to their child’s teacher on Tuesday morning.  As always, parents have the right to check their children out of school whenever they choose.  Teachers have academic freedom to deliver instruction through a variety of instruction strategies.  Although curriculum is governed in our state by Sunshine State Standards the delivery model of that content is part of the academic freedom of the teacher.  They select activities and strategies that are appropriate for the age and ability level of their students.   I attempted to call you at 12:00 but was unable to reach you.   Please call me at 833-3110 if I can help you with any other information regarding this issue.

Letter to Alexis Tibbetts, Superintendent of Okaloosa Schools

Ms. Tibbetts,
Please issue a statement on the upcoming viewing of President Obama's speech to the school children on Tuesday, September 8th.  We would like to see the formal policy regarding protecting the kids from any potential propaganda both during the speech and in any course materials after the speech.

We would like to ensure parents will be invited and present during and after the speech and all parents be made aware of what exactly is discussed during this presentation.

There are many concerned parents that feel there may be some material presented that is inappropriate in non-political setting such as the public school.  There is even a movement to pull children out of school on that day.  I would hate to see children lose one precious day of education and respectfully request a written statement regarding the President's speech and the policy by which the teachers lead the post-speech discussion and activities.

I thank you in advance for this response and ask it be available by close of business Friday, September 4th so I can pass on the information to many concerned citizens who want to know what pro-active protections are taken on behalf of the impressionable minds of our nation's and our County's young people.

Fascist Elements Framing Real Discussion

I am awful about trying to keep this blog up. I could use some help if anyone is interested in contributing.

Anyway, I just read an article that a SEIU worker trashed the DNC Headquarters in Denver, CO. As expected, the Democrats blamed us "right wing extremists" for the action, but it turns out this was a frame job. The SEIU employee apparently plastered a poster against healthcare reform on the DNC HQ Window.

This appears to be a systematic approach by the unions, community activists and, unless the government steps in to denounce this type of activity and prosecute to the full extent of the law, the Obama administration.

I have been fighting tooth and nail to keep the Tea Party a non-partisan group and truly want to work with people of all backgrounds to help this nation, but this type of thuggery should never, EVER be tolerated. The President is in charge of enforcing our nation's laws and stopping this type of behavior as soon as it starts.

Mr. President, we ask you to denounce the SEIU's aggressive tactics in confronting free speech. This has happened in Tampa (post event interview) and Missouri, with reports of events happening in many other places. We want a civil discussion on these very important issues to our families, the State of Florida, our nation, and our future. Please denounce these tactics of harassment, false blame, and violence.

Declaration of Freedom

This is a letter I submitted to our Representative Jeff Miller (FL-1) at a sort of-Town Hall meeting on Wednesday. If anyone would like to copy and paste and edit or whatever and send to your Reps, Senators, President, whoever may need to know that we are concerned with what is taking place, please feel free.

The Declaration of Independence serves as a model declaration for expressing our grave concern about the actions taken by the Federal Government recently, which is causing the People of Fort Walton Beach and throughout the United States to rise up and express our sincere outrage over the abuses of power, reductions in freedom, irresponsibility with our nation’s finances, lack or transparency and accountability by our duly elected officials and representatives and general disregard of the constraints of government power guaranteed us by the Constitution of the United States of America.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to voice our concern with the current direction of repression and irresponsibility from our Federal government, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to rise up in mass and ongoing protest.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these rights, Governments are institutes among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,--That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter it and to elect new Government, which is most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness

Prudence will dictate that Governments long established should not be protested and confronted continuously for light and transient causes. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to rise up and confront such a Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Such as been the patient sufferance of these States; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to confront and challenge the current elected representatives.

The history of the present President and Congress of the United States and past elected officials is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

They have created, campaigned and championed divisions within our nation based on race, gender, age, income, religion, political connections, and industry.

They have weakened the Sovereignty of the States through excessive regulation by loose interpretation of the Commerce Clause of the Constitution, by Unconstitutional federal environmental and labor laws, and by using federal tax revenues to create incentives for the States to enact Federally-desired laws.

They have eliminated competition between the States through a tax code that does not allow local choices for State spending priorities and policy strategies.

They have ignored the proper role of the Federal government in usurping powers reserved to the States by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.

They have used tax revenues to unequally distribute monies to politically favored businesses, organizations, programs, States and individuals.

They have subjected citizens to economic slavery by forcefully withholding retirement monies, healthcare monies, and income tax monies.

They have reduced or eliminated consumer choices for economic freedom by raising hidden taxes and prices on goods and services, preventing consumer options through excessive Unconstitutional regulation from environmental, labor, tax, and health regulations.

They have reduced labor options for individuals by restricting business development, forcing commerce overseas, excessive regulation, high taxation, high employment costs to business, and excessive interference in States ability to attract business.

They have favored an organized labor monopoly in particular industries which donates to political campaigns creating a mutually beneficial relationship between legislators dependent on campaign contributions and labor dependent on creating favored legislation to exist.

They have ensured continued subservience of individuals to the government by restricting choices and competition within the education system and removing monies from that education system for the purpose of eliminating competing education systems.

They have taken justly earned private income and capital and distributed it to others based not on the Constitutional mandate of Promoting the General Welfare, but on the basis of rewarding politically-favored voters and political contributors.

They have misused tax revenues not to pay down debt, protect the States or to facilitate free commerce among the people as intended in the Constitution, but to sustain failed businesses, governments and individuals.

They have misused tax revenues to bribe States into enacting laws not in the best interest of the State as determined by the citizens of that State.

They have misused tax revenues to fund politicized science used to justify a more repressive Federal government and subsequent regulations.

They have misused tax revenues to fund overly generous salaries, benefits, retirement plans, campaign benefits and other self-interested monies for Federal officials.

They have misused tax revenues to inappropriately advertise and market pending legislation which gives an unfair advantage to the government passing legislation.

They have misused tax revenues to force unfair economic decisions from individuals with the purpose of controlling the behavior and preventing the free will of the individual.

They have unethically influenced the freedom of the press by offering access, interviews, and employment to members of the press which create favorable press for Federal officials.

They have spent excessively from borrowed monies which will force future generations into greater debt and economic slavery to the Federal government.

They have endangered our States by indebting the nation to other countries.

They have failed to protect the States and the individual citizens from foreign nationals not following established laws to enter the country.

They have solidified a ruling political class that does not allow for more political choices or candidates outside of the established political party system.

They have abdicated their Constitutional duties by allowing a private business, called the Federal Reserve, to print the money of the United States.

They have abdicated their Constitutional duties by allowing agencies and individuals of the government to create laws and regulations rather than from the United States Congress.

They have abdicated their Constitutional duties by allowing the Supreme Court to create legislation rather than interpreting legislation passed by the Congress.

They have abdicated their Constitutional duties by allowing undue influence by special interest groups to influence legislation rather than creating legislation for the General Welfare of the States and their citizens.

They have abdicated their Constitutional duties to read all legislation proposed and enacted which affects the States and citizens.

They have abdicated their Constitutional duties to ensure all legislation, laws, regulations, and other information are open, complete, truthful, transparent and available to citizens to allow timely and informed election decisions are made by voters.

In every stage of these Oppressions, We have exercised our duty to vote in the most humble terms, only to have elected officials mislead us or are unwilling to support promised legislation. We must now show we have taken notice and will hold officials directly and swiftly accountable for ignoring the will of the People.

We have reminded our elected leaders to refrain from extending legislation outside the confines of the Constitution. We have trusted the political class to ultimately make the most beneficial decision to the whole nation, but history and continued abuses warn us that we must take a more active role as a free and sovereign people to ensure our liberty continues into posterity.

We the People, in order to continue this perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do reaffirm our commitment and support for the Constitution for the United States of America.

Please raise awareness with other members of Congress that this is the general feeling of the People of the United States. This is not funded by any political party, organization or business but is a true movement of the People, by the People and for the people for the purpose of preserving Freedom and Liberty.

A Message to the Okaloosa GOP

From the Fort Walton Beach Tea Party, thank you to the Okaloosa GOP team for attending our Tea Party Rally. It was a shame you didn't get to speak and explain exactly what you just explained in your blog entry. Many folks in the Tea Party are deeply frustrated with the GOP. Unfortunately, the GOP took the brunt of a media campaign to discredit Tax Cuts as an expense to the government rather than a great way to stimulate economic growth, encourage entrepreneurship and investment as well as increase economic freedom for the whole nation rather than a few politically connected businesses and people, which is exactly what the 2009 Stimulus Program has been.

The other GOP problems of complacency in office, pork and increased spending, lack of initiative to curb runaway entitlement programs, lack of coherent marketing strategy to educate the public on the Constitution and Free Markets, and lack of a reaffirmation of your dedication to your Core Values. We would love to support the GOP, so we hope you will help your party dedicate to upholding our unique American freedoms and values.

The Core Values of the Tea Party are:

1) Support and Obey the U.S. Constitution and maintain the States' Sovereignty per the 10th Amendment
2) Balance the budget, spend within the means of current revenues and figure out a strategy to pay off the National Debt
3) Reduce taxes to increase economic freedom and growth
4) Find new ways to increase freedom for individuals and privately owned businesses
5) Hold anyone in power accountable even if it means giving up some short-term political power.

We are fighting a media perception war which says the Tea Party movement is orchestrated by the GOP and other national organizations. As the organizer of our local Tea Party group, I can assure you we are completely independent of any group. I am not affiliated with any political party and the official policy of our group is that we will support those who believe in our Core Values and confront those who don't.

We won't vote Republican as the "lesser of two evils" any longer. If the GOP gives us a candidate who will fight for the little guy and our nation, we will vote. If the Democrats give us a candidate who will pledge to uphold our values, we will vote for them. Integrity is generally defined as "doing the right thing for the right reason." We will maintain our independent integrity and have all pledged to each other to hold those public servants we elect accountable, but we will support them if they are trying to do the right thing.

We thank you for the chance to respond to your blog entry and look forward to working together when our objectives are complementary but we will maintain our own identity until the GOP completes several political cycles and show that your platform as well as actions in office warrant us giving you official support.

Grassroots movement sweeps into Fort Walton Beach with Tax Day Tea Party

Fort Walton Beach, FL – April 7, 2009 – Grassroots activists in Okaloosa County will rally at the Fort Walton Beach Landing on April 15 to demonstrate their frustration with big government spending.

Chris Saccomanno, Fort Walton Beach, organized the Tax Day rally, which is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. He is working with volunteers throughout the county to plan the event. Local Floridians frustrated with out-of-control government spending are urged to join their fellow citizens at the Fort Walton Beach Landing on Wednesday, April 15th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Local Floridians have already taken note of Americans voicing their concerns at Tea Parties across the country, and are anxious to take part themselves. Even in advance of the event location announcement, Saccomanno received several hundred emails and phone calls from across the county. Inquiries continue to pour in and evidence of increasing excitement can be found in discussions of how people can help and how they can spread the word about the Tea Party movement.

The Fort Walton Beach Tax Day Tea Party will be held simultaneously along with over 1,500 other locally-organized tea parties across America as part of a growing nationwide movement allowing everyday citizens to voice their opposition to the excessive federal spending and the increased debt which will burden future generations. April 15 Tea Party!

Fort Walton Beach has finally joined the ranks of the national Tea Party movement! We are trying to put together a protest event on Wednesday April 15th to coincide with hundreds of other Tea Parties across this great nation. There are some going on Sat April 18th, which may be a better date. I hope you will join us to put together a nice group of folks who are just tired of Washington DC spending all our children's money on pet projects and vote buying.

If you are unfamiliar with the Tea Party Movement, the Stimulus Package passed by the Congress and President earlier this year generated some unnamed protests. The idea was that by spending $787 Billion now of borrowed money, our kids will very likely have to pay back over $3,000,000,000,000.00 ($3 TRILLION) to pay for all the spending (factoring in spending programs unlikely to be canceled, debt servicing, etc). That amounts to over $30,000 per family in America. Now THAT would have been a Stimulus to people (Can you imagine what your family of 4 could have done with $30,000 in this economy?).

After the U.S. Government passed this unprecedented Spending package they called a "Stimulus," they decided another "leg of the 3-legged stool" was to pass a bailout housing package (The 3-Legs of the Recovery Plan are Stimulus Package, Housing Bailout, Financial Bailout). Well, the housing plan was to spend $275 Billion MORE to write down bad mortgages and really just reward 7% of real estate buyers who bought more house than they can afford, tried to flip properties for speculation or just don't feel like paying their bills any more. This plan is rewarding bad behavior while not providing any help to 93% of homeowners who pay their mortgages on time. This plan drew considerable backlash and an interview with Rick Santelli of CNBC coined the phrase "Tea Party" as associated with the backlash against wasteful spending.

Here is the latest wrap up of all the Tea Parties going on right now. Definitely a "grass roots" movement of us people who are just frustrated with the way D.C. works.

If you follow politics at all and just want to release some annoyance with the government, let's go bring some coolers and beer down to the landing (if we can have alcohol over there) and make up some signs. I bet many others feel this same way!
